Is online learning proving to be ineffective for you and your child? Are you concerned that he won’t be able to participate in enrichment and other activities? Perhaps boarding school is a fantastic education answer for your child during these scary times when the pandemic keeps reappearing just when you thought it was passed. But you won’t know until you thoroughly investigate the concept.

1. Do you want to give your child a challenge?

If you’re happy with your current situation, boarding school is probably not for you. Why? Because your child will be embarking on an exciting experience by attending boarding school. She will be exposed to a wide range of new ideas and perspectives. She will have the opportunity to enroll in academic courses that will both enhance and challenge her. She’ll be in tiny classes, so she won’t be able to hide in the corner. Her ideas and opinions will be valued. Her abilities will be enhanced. Her flaws will be addressed in a constructive atmosphere. Because she will be doing more academic work at a boarding school than she would in a public school with its large classes, she will be stretched.

2. Do you want her to be able to participate in sports in the fall, winter, and spring?

There is a significant distinction between public and private schools. Budget cuts to public schools are all over the news. Sports, the arts, and extracurricular programmes are among the first to be removed. They are frequently regarded as extras. However, boarding schools have long believed that a balanced approach to a child’s education is the best way to ensure success. This strategy works very well because academics, sports, and extracurricular activities are all part of any boarding school’s programme.

3. Do you want her to form a lifelong network of friends?

In these difficult economic times, we grownups realize the value of networks more than ever. One of the long-term benefits of boarding school is the network of friends and acquaintances who know, understand, and can vouch for you. You get to know your students better when you live with them 24 hours a day, seven days a week. You also learn to respect them and, more importantly, to get along with them.

Your child will benefit from boarding school since it will give him or her an intellectually challenging setting in which education will pervade all aspects of his or her life. Students at such institutions report that living alongside their classmates motivates them to work harder than they would in a different environment.

Choosing the correct school, on the other hand, can be difficult for many parents. The most significant factors to consider while choosing a boarding school are the student’s needs. As a result, the majority of the elements listed below (in no particular order) are subjective factors to consider while choosing a boarding school.

What are the opinions of current and former students on their education? Are alumni of the schools certain that their education equipped them for the next stage of their lives? Do parents believe they got good value for their money when it came to tuition? To learn more about reputations, refer to the overall rankings. While these lists are far from comprehensive, they do provide a useful overview of a particular school.

School’s Philosophy:

What is the boarding school’s general educational philosophy? Several private schools have educational perspectives that differ from those of public schools. As a result, you should determine how a particular school educates its students and whether or not you agree with that strategy.

Sending your child to a boarding school with students from other cultural backgrounds exposes him or her to new lifestyles, languages, and cultural practices, which may assist in broadening their worldview and develop acceptance.

Visiting School:

This is a crucial stage that you must not overlook. It takes time to visit the schools on your shortlist. The interview, however, is linked to the campus tour. The interview is your opportunity to determine whether or not the school is a good fit for your child and your needs. After all, the school will play a significant part in moulding your child’s future in a variety of ways. The only way to do so is to go to the school and ask as many questions as possible.

Fee Structure:

It is very important that you pay attention to the curriculum as well as the fees that you are required to pay annually. As your child resides and has access to much more facilities, the fees are generally a little on the higher side. Therefore, it becomes important that you pay attention to this aspect as well.

Should My Child Go To A Boarding School?

Boarding School

One of the biggest confusions that parents have in terms of a child’s early education is whether to send the child to boarding school or not. For ages, there has been a huge debate about the same, and about parents weighing the pros and cons of sending children to boarding school. The answer is simple, it is all about ‘Perception’. However, it also boils down to the kind of boarding school you end up choosing for your child, as that could be the whole deal maker or breaker.

Both you and your child are taking a big step when you decide to send your child to boarding school. While boarding school may not be suitable for every child, it can be a massive help in personal and intellectual growth for many. The advantages of sending your child to boarding school are discussed in this article.

1. Smaller classes

Children are more likely to be assigned to smaller classrooms at a boarding school than in a conventional day school. Smaller classes are linked to higher levels of engagement from both the child and the teacher in many circumstances. For a child, this can help enhance the amount of guidance and assistance they receive while also allowing a teacher to personalize their approach to a child’s strengths and needs.

2. Outside-the-classroom activities

One of the widely acknowledged advantages of boarding schools is the capacity to provide a broader range of extracurricular activities. This can include non-traditional sports like Taekwondo and scuba diving, as well as specialized performing arts programs. These chances are essential not only for your child’s personal growth but also for the success of their university application. Millfield and Uppingham, for example, have state-of-the-art sporting facilities while maintaining excellent academic achievements.

3. Progress in academics

Because many of the teachers live on campus, boarding institutions attract highly dedicated teachers. Their enthusiasm for the school and immersion in its culture help motivate students and promote their desire to succeed pastorally and academically.

4. Self-sufficiency

The majority of children will not feel truly independent until they leave home for university. Children who attend boarding school gain more independence earlier in life and learn to adjust to living in a community other than their family. This improves their readiness for life after school, allowing them to grow in maturity and independence before joining the adult world.

5. Students from other countries

Because of the diverse nature of most boarding school communities these days, your child may have the opportunity to make friends from all over the world. Attending boarding school might be very beneficial for international students. They not only learn the original language fluently by immersing themselves in British culture, but they also obtain a valuable grasp of the country’s educational system and a ready-made social network and alumni group to help them advance in the workplace.

6. Alumni networks that are stronger

Alumni networks that are stronger go hand in hand with the boarding school experience. The boarding school environment is intense, and each institution cultivates its own distinct identity, which aids in the development of friendships and, in most circumstances, gives your child a more incredible feeling of self-confidence and identity (albeit it a manufactured one). These connections carry over into the working sphere, opening up new doors and chances.

GD Goenka Signature Boarding School is surely one of the most enhanced and leading boarding schools in the country, due to the kind of education and activities it offers to the students, and helps them grow into beautiful and talented humans.

Why are Fruits and Vegetables Necessary for your Kid’s Nutrition?

Fruits and Vegetables Necessary for your Kid's Nutrition

Fruits and nutrition play a crucial role in a kid’s life because they help in preventing obesity and may boost school performance. Fruits and vegetables are said to be quite beneficial for kids as they improve nutrition, decrease obesity risk and guarantee better school performance. For the same, a kid’s plate must be packed with fruits and vegetables.

Better nutrition:

The growing bodies of kids tend to require nutrition and fruits and vegetables, which feature a plethora of vitamins, minerals, and other healthy compounds. Some of the citrus fruits, including strawberries, are rich in immune system-boosting vitamin C. At the same time, carrots are rich in Vitamin A. on the other hand, spinach is said to be a fantastic source of iron that helps prevent anemia. Apples tend to feature at least 16 different polyphenols, which are antioxidants with health-promoting properties.

Minimum obesity:

Fruits and vegetables are said to be high in fiber, but they have minimum fat content and calories. So, when you encourage your kids to eat fruits and vegetables instead of sugary snacks and fat-laden fast food, you can help children avoid obesity.

Digestive Health:

Fruits and vegetables are said to have a high fiber content which helps the digestive system function properly. Often, constipation can be eased out by eating some fruits, including prunes, apricots, plums, peas, beans, and broccoli. When fibers tend to pass through the digestive system, it absorbs water and expands, which triggers regular bowel movements and relieves constipation.

Better performance in school:

Children who follow healthy diets tend to perform better in academic tests than children who consume fewer fruits and vegetables. A plethora of factors influence the academic performance of kids, but nutrition is an essential contributor to better school performance, as per a recent study.

Tips to increase the consumption of Fruits and Vegetables for Kids:

You need to shop with your kids and let them prepare vegetable and fruit dishes if you want them to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. You can also consider sneaking pureed vegetables into children’s favorite foods and stock kid-level shelves in the fridge with baggies of cut-up veggies and fruits. If your budget allows, then you must shop for organic fruits and vegetables.

  • Set the right example- Your kids must learn what they live and ensure that you set the proper measures with their own food choices as parents. You cannot expect your kids to do any differently if you are routinely eating and snacking on unhealthy foods. Ensure you set the right example to get children to eat right. Above all, it requires parental self-discipline. To make a healthy choice, the parents need to offer loving and firm guidance when it comes to food choices.

  • Choose healthy snacks- You need to keep a stock of healthy snacks in your house to ensure it is readily available and easily accessible for children to grab. Don’t get into the habit of giving children cookies or other sugary treats when the family meal is being prepared or is ready to be served.

  • Give them necessary discipline- Typically, kids don’t like changes being made to their traditional routines, so expect children to express their dislike for newly implemented changes. Just cover it and save it for when they say they are hungry if your child adamantly refuses to eat the planned meal. Always tell your child that it is your house and not a cafe or restaurant where children say what they will or will not eat. Whenever your child is hungry, reheat the food saved and say that’s good because you saved it for them.

  • Try different vegetables being prepared in different ways- You need to know that vegetables can be served raw, baked, steamed, grilled, in a salad, in juice form, stir-fried, and boiled form. You can try a different variety and in other ways until you find the vegetables that your kids love.

  • Mix the vegetables in your kid’s favorite meal- You can make pasta with steamed broccoli or peas mixed in if your kid loves macaroni and cheese. You can mix real tomatoes, mushrooms, or peas, and carrots into the sauce if your child loves spaghetti.

  • Better Presentation- If the presentation of the meal is done well, and if the meal looks beautiful, then there is nothing that can stop the child from doing well. It is a psychological fact, that the looks of the food play a huge role in luring the child to eat a certain food. Hence, work on the presentation aspect properly.

Hence you should avoid steaming or microwaving as it retains more nutrients than boiling. The older kids love to bite while the babies need mushy textures. Therefore you can give vegetables in any form your kids love.

Outdoor Learning – An Intuitive Way of Education

Outdoor Learning

For the comprehensive growth of a student, outdoor learning is quite important. It can be in the form of vocational activities or even recreational activities, including picnics or school trips.

Additionally, the outside environment can help in improving the ability of students to concentrate for an extended period. When you learn in an exterior environment, it rekindles the interest of the learner in almost everything.

Smart and street smart:

An exterior curriculum to a regular classroom curriculum allows the students to have a better connection with the information which is being given to them. We take trips to the zoo, park, and nursery to help the students get closer to nature and also explore the richness of nature. Above all, such trips make learning more focused and participation. Additionally, it makes students sharper, and it improves their personality overall. Well, a good academic score is also guaranteed.

Impact of Online Learning In School Education

online education

Working professionals and students pursuing higher education have embraced online education in droves. These types of online students benefit significantly from the autonomy and freedom that these courses provide. Online courses can be scheduled around their busy schedules, including full-time work, internships, and family responsibilities. They can also use online learning to get some peaceful time to study.

Instead of focusing on the advantages and disadvantages, we should be discussing how to use online education to make our educational systems more conducive to learning.

Online courses demand more drive and self-discipline than traditional classroom courses. One or more professors and peers can keep a student accountable for their course work in a classroom. On the other hand, online courses require us to set our own goals, track our progress, and meet deadlines. Because it is impossible to study well in solitude, online courses provide discussion boards, email, and one-on-one assistance. Technology enhances the visual experience by introducing interactive animations for optimal learning and communication.

The advantage of being in the classroom

To groom its students, a school provides structure, support, and a system of incentives and sanctions. Face-to-face contact with classmates, usually regulated by a teacher, are an advantage of traditional classroom education. It provides a stable environment for social interactions for children, particularly those in their early developing years, allowing them to learn skills such as boundary setting, empathy, and collaboration. Unlike a virtual learning environment, it also allows for plenty of spontaneity.

In the Context of Schooling, Online Education

Students demand more autonomy and intellectual independence as they move through school. They can use online learning to undertake highly individualized learning programs, including college-level courses. These, when paired with hands-on exercises, real-world experience, and detailed assessments, can help them learn more effectively. Before committing to a specialty, they might explore their possibilities by exploring introductory topics from several fields. Before they enter college, online learning platforms can assist these kids in becoming more independent learners. Rather than discouraging students from taking an online course, we should help them navigate through it.

Recently, mobile apps that provide expanded learning opportunities for schoolchildren have gained a lot of traction. These apps are being utilized to complement classroom learning because mobile phones have already found their way into students’ hands. During this challenging era of deciding which vocation to follow, parents and teachers must act as mentors and anchors, curating the educational materials that kids are exposed to.

Children from lower socioeconomic communities with limited access to learning resources such as teachers, textbooks, and infrastructure will benefit from online learning programs. It will connect them to a global network of online learners, opening up new possibilities for them. The number of heads in one classroom will have no bearing on the ideas they receive.

Online Education – Need of the Hour for the Students?

In the current times, especially due to the whole COVID-19 situation, no industry is left with a choice, to transform from offline to online. The education sector especially was left with no choice but to make online learning a new ‘Normal’. Schools have resorted to online education, which is no less than offline.

GD Goenka Signature School is the one-stop destination when it comes to offering the highest quality of online education to students. Parents generally worry about how children will cover during the online classes, but with the approach followed by GD Goenka Signature School, both parents and children can be free-minded, as they can expect the highest quality of education taught by experts. Every penny is worth it here indeed!

A good storyteller often stimulates the listener’s active imagination, allowing them to participate in the story’s development.

Learning can become 10x times easier if the storytelling process has been great which involves there was enough engagement and expressions.

Benefits Of Continuous And Comprehensive Evaluation

Benefits of Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation

Introduction: The Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) was an assessment process mandated by India’s Right to Education Act in 2009. State governments in India and the Central Board of Secondary Education in India proposed this assessment proposal for students in sixth to tenth grades and twelfth grade in some colleges.

Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE) is a school-based student evaluation framework that considers all aspects of a student’s progress. It is a developmental evaluation framework that focuses on two goals. On the one hand, these goals maintain consistency in the measurement and assessment of broad-based learning and behavioral results.

The word ‘continuous’ is used in this scheme to emphasize that evaluating established aspects of students’ growth and development is a continuous process, not an occurrence built into the overall teaching-learning process and spans the entire academic session. It refers to assessment consistency, unit testing frequency, learning gap identification, corrective steps, retesting, and self-evaluation. The word ‘comprehensive’ refers to the scheme’s attempt to address both academic and extracurricular aspects of students’ growth and development.

CCE has the following benefits:

1. It promotes student learning by introducing new teaching methods and techniques. This means, that students get to study from different techniques and methods, which makes the overall process of teaching and learning very interesting.

2. Evaluates the learning needs and abilities of students. CCE helps the students to put their best foot forward and continuously test their own abilities. With the help of the CCE process, teachers and students can understand the area where students need more work.

3. Recognizes ongoing student success daily based on smaller portions. Performance checking is extremely important, which should be done regularly. Through CCE doing a thorough analysis of the child’s growth becomes easy and enhanced.

4. Identifies and addresses the special needs of students who are academically challenged.

5. Encourages students to participate in extracurricular activities rather than focusing exclusively on academics.

6. The vast CBSE portion of students is broken down into smaller chunks, and the stress of massive learning is alleviated.

7. Leads to comprehensive education, which emphasizes students’ overall growth in various areas. A child should be given a holistic approach of learning which should include a great blend of theoretical and practical knowledge.

8. CCE enables students in the XI class to make well-informed and better subject choices based on their academic success, aptitude, interests, and preferences.

9. Encourages emotional intelligence, critical thinking, and other life skills. Students need to get future-ready and for the same, they need to broaden their soft skills which can help them get ready for challenging situations.

Long-text reading is included in this category, which means that students are encouraged to read books other than academic books.

Students’ marks were replaced by grades in this CCE scheme, which were tested through a series of curricular and extracurricular assessments, as well as academics, with the overall goal of reducing the burden on the student by continuous assessment by taking a variety of small tests during the year instead of a single test at the end of the academic program. As a result, we can conclude that there are many benefits to using CCE in school-aged students.
